Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Please brothers and sisters,
Pray for Nazarene Bible College. The school is in serious finacial trouble, and they have making drastic changes. Jan and Alan Duce, formally of Monroe Church, were laid off on Tuesday of this week. The will finish out the school year, and then will be done. They are just two of the people that have been let go, and it is a result only of finacies.

Our annial offering was way down this year. This offering is given by local churches sucha s yours in order to help support the school. They try to keep the cost to the students as low as possible with the help of this offerong. With the economy the way it is, a lot of churches did not participate in this offering this year.

Please pray for the Duce family, and all of the staff and students at Nazarene Bible College. This is a hard time for all of us. The Duces' are very influencial to all of us here, ecspecially Cheri and me.

We love you all,
Jim and Cheri Stevens

Please pray for my friend Pam's daughter Michelle. She recently had her son by C-Section 2 months premature. She is doing well but her incision keeps coming open. Her son, David Paul, born at 3 lbs. is now up to 5 lbs. He is doing well. You could pray for him as well. He is a little doll - so cute! Grandma Pam has been sharing with us pictures at work and keeping us posted. He is still at Sparrow NICU in Lansing and is still receiving tube feedings. Please pray that he "meets the requirements" to go home soon.

Thank you!

Thank you all for praying for my sister Angie the last couple of days. I was able to talk to her yesterday. She excepted the Lord Sunday evening. She went to a Nazarene church that is across the street from her home in Texas after an arguement with her boy friend. She told me that for the first time she realized that she had on-one down the to be her friend, and just needed to feel loved.
The pastor and is wife talked with her for over an hour, and in the end she excepted the Lord, and the pastors wife told her that she would be her first friend. SHe is going to go to a womens bible study on Wendsday evening. I praise the Lord for the way He works, and for the fact that he never gives up.

Thanks
God is Good

As many of you may know my sister lives in Texas, and is reciently divorced. She lives with her boy friend now, and has been making some changes in her life. Tonight they got into a minor fight, and she realized that she had no one down there to talk to, so she went down to the Nazarene Church about three blocks from her house and talked to the pastor and his wife for about an hour and a half. She is seeking answers from the Lord, She is not a Christian, so this is huge. Cheri and I have been praying for her for nine years now. Please cover her in prayer over the next few weeks. Also pray that the pastor and his wife will be able to talk to her more and try to connect her. My mom said that she is looking into a womens group that meets there during the week.

Our Lord has called her name, and she is hearing his voice.
Thank you,
Love Jim Stevens

I have to thank you all for your prayers for my dog Sandy! She is doing so much better!!! I say that she is my Miracle Dog!! God was definitely with her 1) because she is 16 years old and 2) because she was not hurt as badly as she could have been. Her jaw is calcifying and we have been able to take the muzzle off of her for good. Her paw is 100% healed but her teeth will never come back. She is just like normal (begging anytime we eat - lol!). She runs around just like a puppy would! :o) You honestly would not know that she was 16 or that she was hit by a car only 2 months ago! PTL!!! Thanks again for your prayers for her and for us.

Please pray for my friend Kim Steuwe. She got back her test results back on 09/29/08 from the nodules on her neck. The results were negative but they are suspicious because of the way that they are grouped together. Because of the grouping they can become cancerous. They are going to perform surgery on 10/23/08 to remove the nodules. They are going to put a tube down her throat so that the doctor can keep an eye on her vocal chords because they can be affected. Please pray for her two 15-year-old daughters (Jenessa & Erica) as well. Jenessa is having a hard time with the news and is very upset. Kim just lost her Mom last year to cancer.
